Growth Updates 0-8 Weeks

Birth

Herra delivered 3 males and 4 females. These babies were huge at birth. They were born and immediately went to nursing without assistance. What an absolutely stunning litter.

During Delivery

Watch Herra give birth to one of her phenomenal Rottweiler puppies. These puppies were quite large and we are amazed at how well Herra did. She is such a wonderful mother to her puppies and we are so proud of her.

Week 1 Update

Hello DKV Family!

Week one has been a success. Herra is a phenomenal mother, but we already knew that. Angel checks on Herra’s newborn babies every two hours to make sure they are nursing, which they usually are. Herra has no problem with us handling her newborns. Right now, both the eyes and ears are completely sealed shut. They will open in the next few weeks. Until then, we just need to allow them to continue to grow and they do that by nursing and sleeping. So far, so good.

Week 2 Update

Hello DKV Family!

Our babies are now two weeks old. These newborns are still very young, so there is not much action going on yet. A typical day consists of nursing and sleeping, repeated about 12 times. We rarely walk into the nursery and don’t see them all hanging on mom. There are a few mama’s here that we say have some extra sugar in their milk, because their puppies never stop nursing. Herra is one of them. These babies can eat, eat, and eat.

Besides eating, we did see a few cracks in the eyes today as we took photos. Not all of the puppies, but a few. That being said, they will all be opening their eyes in the next day or two. That is by far, one of my favorite milestones! Their ears are still sealed and they do not hear yet, but they will open shortly after the eyes.

Other than that, all of the babies are doing amazing. They are growing every day, starting to waddle around, and just being as cute as they can be. I am enjoying every moment of this calm and gentle stage, because I know in about 4 weeks, I will be chasing these little firecrackers all around. LOL. Enjoy the photos.

Week 3 Update

Hello DKV family!

Time is flying. We are now on week three. Look at these cuties look at the camera. It’s so precious to see these babies look back at you, now that their eyes are open. They even react to sound now. While taking the photos, I would make kissing sounds, or slide a toy across the table to get them to look. Some were interested, some did not care and just continued to sleep, and some even barked at me. It’s so fun to see how they all react to new sounds.

Herra is doing wonderful. As I have told you all in the past, Herra is one of our absolute best producing females. Her puppies are always guaranteed to be amazing, and this litter continues to prove that promise. We are so impressed with the overall size, structure, and beautiful features. The males are always going to be impressive, but look at these females too. They are just as amazing. If only they could stay this small forever. I love them all. Enjoy the photos!

Week 4 Update

Hello DKV Family!

The Rottweiler puppies are doing great. They are turning into “normal” puppies. By normal, I mean they are beginning to show bits of their personalities. They are walking around, even trying to run around. They still crash into each other if they get too excited though. LOL. They still sleep 18+ hours a day, which is completely normal and necessary for their growth. By next week, they will be wild puppies.

The babies all have wonderful appetites. So much so, that Angel has now introduced puppy food to your babies. They still nurse on mama all day, but now they all receive a puppy food milkshake in the afternoon and evening as well. All of the puppies really seem to love the extra food. They make a huge mess and get the food all over their faces. Then, they all lick the food off of each other’s faces. It’s adorable.

Overall, our Rocky and Herra’s puppies are progressing just as we expect them too. By next week, we will begin to see more of their personalities and begin to learn more about each puppy individually. They are all strong, beautiful, and just a joy to be around.

Below is a video from last week that I thought everyone might enjoy!

Week 5 Update

Hello DKV family!

Your babies are now 5 weeks old. Personalities are beginning to bloom. Puppies are coming out of their shells and are beginning to play with each other more. We have introduced toys and they really seem to be interested in them. Of course, they all rather tug and fight over the same toy, then each play with their own. LOL.

Appetites are great. They are nursing on mama still and they are eating softened puppy food. They know their routine well and they will fuss and bark when they hear Angel prepping their food bowl. The second Angel places the puppy food bowl down, the puppies all dive in, like they haven’t eaten for a week. They are too funny.

Today, Angel gave all of the puppies a bath. At first, they did not know what to think of it. After a bit, they really began to enjoy it. When they were finished, we towel dried each puppy. That really sparked them full of energy. They began running back and forth around the bathroom. They are really getting curious and really getting fast!

Happy Father’s Day to all the father’s out there. Hope you all have a blessed weekend. Enjoy!

Week 6 Update

Hello DKV family!

Your babies are now 6 weeks old. Only two more weeks to go. Personalities are big and definitely shining though. I am pleased to say the puppies are exactly what we were expecting out of Italian Stallion and Herra. They are all confident, curious, social, and very playful.

From the males, “Blue” collar male is the most outgoing and curious. Since 4 weeks of age, he has always been the first to run around and explore the furthest. “Black” collar male and “Yellow” collar male are more calm and wait to see where “Blue” male heads before they follow after. “Blue” is the most outgoing. “Black” is the most mid range. “Yellow” is the most affectionate. He loves to be held and within minutes, he is sleeping in your arms.

From the females, “Lime” collar female is the most curious and very confident. “Pink” collar female and “Purple” collar female are mid range and are both playful and calm. “Orange” is always on the go. She loves to run around and explore each corner. Just like the males, all are showing positive energy, confidence, curiosity, and have social personalities.

The differences I am explaining are very minimal but I want to provide as much information as possible, to help you make the best decision for your family and your home environment. We will begin the puppy selection process this week as well as official paperwork. I hope you all enjoy the photos!

Week 7 Update

Hello DKV family!

This is our final update before you bring your babies home! I know everyone must be so excited, including us. We love the babies but they are a lot of work. LOL.

Overall, the babies are doing absolutely perfect. They are full of energy. Let me repeat that… they are full of energy!!! It’s so strange to think they were sleeping 20 hours a day, just two weeks ago. They still sleep a lot because they are growing so much, but when they are awake, they play hard to use their time wisely. LOL. I have to also mention that this litter loves water, so be ready for that!

Everyone has a great appetite. They are drinking water and eating their dry kibble 100% this week. They are full weaned off of mama and we are trying to get her fully dried up now. Herra loves to watch her pups play around and she always looks like a proud mama when she watches them.

The vet visit went great. All of the puppies were free of parasites and worms. They all passed their physical exam and they all received their first vaccine. The vet was very impressed with the babies and gave them all a clean bill of health. We get their final travel health certificate on Thursday.

Just a few more days everyone. Have a safe 4th of July and we look forward to meeting everyone in a few days!
